Spider type look was designed by Zagato and under the unbelievably long bonnet beat 8 cylinders with swept volume of 2,336 cm3. Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 (picture) was made in 1932 and since then has travelled loads of kilometres across the world. From the very beginning, first kilometres were made in Italy especially around Torino. But in 1937, 8C was sent across the Atlantic to USA. Unfortunately, this beautiful 8 cylinder was waiting utill 1952 when it was bought by unknown buyer. Since 1952, 8C was enjoying US roads with the unknown owner utill 2003 when it was bought by David Sydorick. Alfa Romeo 8C has never come back to Europe, because it is parked in Beverly Hills. You can enjoy “her” presence only at competitions of elegance. So take profit of it!
This 2300 version is the first milestone of the 8C history. From the very beginning it was designed to be a race car and therefore it has its deserved place in the Alfa Romeo competition history. Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 started its production in 1931 and since then won many important victories. It was driven by Tazio Nuvolari, who won Targa Florio race in 1931 and 1932. Tario also added a victory from Grand Prix of Italy at Monza circuit.
In 1931, Alfa also prepared version 8C 2300 Le Mans type. Its successful debut at Eireann Cupe was the sign of great future. Later, drivers Nuvolari, Howe, Birkin, Sommer, Chinetti and Etancelin won with 8C 2300 Le Mans endurance competition 4 successive years from 1931. Totally, there were 188 models of 8C 2300 produced out of which only 6 Monza version and 9 Le Mans version.
